Roxbury E+ townhouses in Boston designed to produce more energy than they use
Solar panels cover the rooftops of these four townhouses in Boston by local firm ISA, allowing them to sustainably produce more energy and hot water thantheir occupants are likely to use(+ slideshow).
Boston-basedISAwon a competition organised by the city council to design the row ofthree-storey townhouses for a vacant plot in the Roxbury neighbourhood.

Aytac Architects have designed this 10 story apartment building in Istanbul, Turkey.
The architectrsquo;s description
The building pays homage to the areas completely destroyed vineyards, due to the densification of the city with concrete cookie-cutter apartment blocks after the 1970rsquo;s.
The ldquo;vinerdquo; like texture emerges at the ground level, and moves upward to become the intertwining building facade, finishing at the roof garden where the residents can enjoy tranquillity away from the noise of the street.
This facade treatment offers privacy with maximum light and views within each residence.
The metal bands climb like a vine, wrapping the building with balconies, employing this decorative element as a functional tool.

after it was confirmed that dubai would become the first middle easte city to host the world expo in its 160 year history, HOK released further images of their proposal for the site. the futuristic and iovative design draws on traditional emirati plaing concepts, fully embracing the heritage and history of the region. the lsquo;coecting minds, creating the futurersquo; inspired scheme comprises three pavilions, symbolizing opportunity, sustainability and mobility, coected through an expansive central plaza.
dubairsquo;s selection was aounced on novmber 27th by representatives of the 167 bureau inteational des expositions (BIE) member nations. HOK worked as lead designers for the project, alongside populous and arup.

When Ideograf- Paulina Czurak Design Studio were asked to design this cafe in Gdynia, Poland, they wanted to create a space that would stand out and impress customers, one of the ways they did this was by including an entire wall filled with teacups.

Anyway Doors have added these fascinating pivoting doors to their line of custom doors. Over-sized to create a dramatic presence and able to act as both a door and room divider, the real uniqueness of these doors is hidden inside.

Tucked into either the door frame or glass mount depending on the style, the iovative pivoting hinges are invisible once installed, creating a seamless integration of the door into its setting.
The hinges of the pivoting door can be offset or centrally located, allowing the door to open either to a maximum of 90deg; or to rotate a full 360deg;.

The original stairs in the apartment ran parallel with the mezzanine. To open the area, they installed thenew stairs along the far end of the living area.
